2019 Volume 2 Issue 2 (Published 15 May 2019)
Step by step
Dear colleagues,
Presenting a new issue of INEOS OPEN, I would like to announce encouraging news. Our Journal has been included in the Russian Science Citation Index data base. Now we have taken a further step towards a respectable academic periodical, which INEOS OPEN aims to become in the foreseeable future.
Our authors are becoming more active and our reviewers are becoming more fastidious. The publishing process is moving to a steady-state regime. Nevertheless, there are certain inherent difficulties in developing. Some of the referees after rigorous analysis of a particular manuscript recommend publishing with the proviso that it is acceptable for the Journal of this level. In the current debates on journal ratings, the Russian scientific periodicals are often considered as the journals of a bargain-basement level, and INEOS OPEN does not always escape the fate to be relegated to this category. This is not fair for most of the journals which have gone through multiple reforms and only recently have started to integrate into a highly competitive global scientific information market. And this is doubly unfair to the new journals which are yet to go through many steps of scientific marketing to take their place among authoritative academic periodicals or to cease to exist. The members of INEOS OPEN editorial board are open to critical remarks and suggestions for further growth of the Journal. There is no shadow of a doubt that the intended goals will be achieved and the development program will be fully realized. We feel strongly optimistic about the future, planning another milestone on the road to further improvement of the quality of published materials.
Our further steps are obvious: we are going to continue dissemination of information about our Journal in order to register it in international data bases. We have completed the formation of International Advisory Board which includes renowned chemists from all over the world. Hence, we gradually create conditions for making the publications of our authors the assets of a global scientific community. That is all fine, but we understand that the level of a journal is defined by the level of its publications. Therefore, we invite our authors and readers to support INEOS OPEN by your original publications. To reach the international audience, it is necessary to make every effort to publish interesting scientific reports in the Journal. Do not forget to include INEOS OPEN in a list of the journals which you are considering for your recent results.
In conclusion, I would like to draw your attention to the News section of our website, which will start to post the messages about major important scientific events of INEOS, including scientific exchange programs, visits of foreign academic delegations, joint seminars, and creation of new laboratories. All these scientific events will be highlighted on the Journal website in due course.
Sincerely yours,
Editor-in-Chief
Prof., Full Member of RAS
