2019 Volume 2 Issue 1 (Published 7 March 2019)
Dear colleagues,
Starting the first full year of INEOS OPEN on this early March day, on the eve of the International Women's Day, I would like to highlight a few points. First of all, I want to congratulate the best half of our authors and readers and wish you new great achievements in research and good luck and happiness in life. In Russia chemistry is a women's science, and your achievements often determine its general development, so our kind wishes are not without some self-interest.
Secondly, I would like to give a brief overview of the past year. We successfully conducted another INEOS OPEN CUP and published the conference materials in the second issue of INEOS OPEN SELECT. The contest winners returned home with deserved awards to different places throughout our vast country. Two issues of INEOS OPEN came out in 2018. DOI identifiers were assigned to all the articles published in our Journal.
We are ready for the next campaign in 2019. This year INEOS OPEN will be published in the full format of six issues. We completed the formation of a Local Advisory Board and are proud to say that almost all the candidates accepted invitations to join our team. We convened the first meeting of the Local Advisory Board members and received interesting suggestions and useful advice for the Journal development. Above all, we got tremendous support for the rapid and sustainable growth of INEOS OPEN.
We are developing further and have almost completed the formation of an International Advisory Board, which will consist of recognized experts in different fields of chemistry from all over the world. Again, most of our invitations were accepted enthusiastically. The members of the International Advisory Board will be officially announced in the nearest future. INEOS is on the march; therefore, many new interesting articles will be appended to the Journal.
Launching the first issue of INEOS OPEN in 2019, I would like to remind that this is a special year, the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements. Although the United Nations General Assembly did not include the name of the creator of this table and periodic law in the official proclamation, we all know that this year commemorates the 150th anniversary of Mendeleev's Periodic Table. One of the key events will be XXI Mendeleev Congress on General and Applied Chemistry in mid-September.
Another date especially important for our Journal is the 65th anniversary of INEOS, which will be celebrated during Nesmeyanov Conference "The Chemistry of Organoelement Compounds and Polymers 2019" in November. Our traditional annual contest INEOS OPEN CUP will be held within this conference.
So we are expecting new interesting events which require our proper preparation. This year you will have a lot of opportunities to flaunt your results and findings and introduce your achievements to the scientific community. On behalf of the Editorial board, I wish you every success in your research activities.
Sincerely yours,
Editor-in-Chief
Prof., Full Member of RAS
